The turn.

Everything I believed about that week turned over in a single afternoon.

The evidence had been sitting in plain sight, arranged so neatly that it looked like coincidence, and I had walked past it every day carrying my own certainty like a bag of cement.

When I finally understood, I did not shout. I sat down on the step, in the heat, and laughed until it stopped being laughing.

Then I got up and went to find the only person who had never once asked me a question about it.
